So, it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything on here. I didn’t really think anything was worth blogging about aside from our little day at the beach, which was almost a month ago now. Work has been insanely stressful lately—more stressful than usual—and by the time my days off roll around, updating my blog feels more like a chore than something I actually want to do. Whenever it isn’t summer, I’m thinking about summer. That’s how much I love this season. It probably doesn’t help that I was also born in the middle of August, which only heightens my insufferable fondness for the dog days. Not everybody shares the same view as me of course, especially those living in Japan. The temperatures in Kyoto and other areas in the middle region reach dangerous levels, and can incapacitate someone within minutes of stepping out. Most people who know me are well aware of my dislike for the cold and rainy seasons. As a samugari—someone who gets cold easily—I tend to slip into a pretty negative mood on days like these (unless I’m safely tucked away somewhere warm at home). As tsuyu creeps closer, I can’t help but feel a bit bummed trying to plan anything for June. Will it rain? Are the toll roads safe? Where did that folding umbrella disappear to?
