So, it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything on here. I didn’t really think anything was worth blogging about aside from our little day at the beach, which was almost a month ago now. Work has been insanely stressful lately—more stressful than usual—and by the time my days off roll around, updating my blog feels more like a chore than something I actually want to do. I heard that this year’s El Niño is expected to be particularly intense, which could mean a more active typhoon season than usual. With that in mind, I picked Yokohama for our little getaway to celebrate my birthday instead of my original plan to visit Hokkaido. That way, if a typhoon happens to roll through around that time, we won’t have to worry about cancelled flights. Anyway, Yokohama has this romantic feel that I can’t quite explain or put into words. Whenever it isn’t summer, I’m thinking about summer. That’s how much I love this season. It probably doesn’t help that I was also born in the middle of August, which only heightens my insufferable fondness for the dog days. Not everybody shares the same view as me of course, especially those living in Japan. The temperatures in Kyoto and other areas in the middle region reach dangerous levels, and can incapacitate someone within minutes of stepping out.
